Several people have been arrested in the Pescaderia neighborhood of Almeria for cultivating more than 700 marijuana plants and for detaining illegal weapons.

Almeria National Police officers arrested 10 people who were discovered growing marijuana in houses in the Pescaderia neighborhood of Almeria. People have been charged with several crimes.

Those arrested were charged with possession of illegal weapons, a public health crime and electricity company fraud.

Police crack down on indoor cultivation of marijuana in the province of Almeria. Agents from the Almeria Provincial Police Station searched four properties as part of their investigation. The properties were located in Calle Capitan Casinello, Calle Encuentro and Calle Reducto.

As part of the search operation, officers discovered 712 marijuana plants and 5,267 grams of marijuana buds. They also discovered several objects related to the cultivation of marijuana and a BB gun as well, during the search.

The crimes are linked to a family clan dedicated to the cultivation of illegal substances, especially marijuana. The family lived on the same property where the plants were grown. The family also had other homes nearby where they also illegally cultivated marijuana.

Electricity company Endesa verified all four properties. They discovered that all of them had illegal connections to the power grid because none of them had recorded their electricity use on a meter.

Over the past few years, Endesa has worked alongside the Almeria National Police to end the persistent problem of illegal electrical connections. This is considered a crime against public health and also a problem for public safety. An illegal connection to the network poses a fire risk not only for connected homes, but also for other people nearby.

The people who were arrested by the police were handed over to Almeria District Court number three, as reported by La Voz de Almeria.
