Search warrants served on illegal marijuana crops in Oro Grande and Helendale – VVNG.com

HELENDALE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Authorities have served three search warrants targeting illegal marijuana operations in the communities of Oro Grande and Helendale.

The warrants were served around 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, by investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) and deputies from several patrol stations,

Sheriff officials said MET staff received numerous complaints about large outdoor marijuana growing at the following locations:

# 1 – Indian Trails and National Trails Highway, Helendale
# 2 – 15700 block of Crouch Road, Helendale
# 3 – Block 24400 of Ledbury Road, Oro Grande

During the searches, investigators seized 3,216 marijuana plants and a gun. The following three suspects were arrested:

  • Torino Sanchez, 65, resident of San Bernardino – location # 1
  • Juventino Vallalba, 55 year old female, resident of San Bernardino – location # 1
  • Ramon Martinez, 41, resident of Mexico – location # 3

“Investigations found that cannabis crops did not comply with the California Medical and Adult Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA) and the San Bernardino County Ordinance prohibiting commercial activity. cannabis, “said a press release from the sheriff. “San Bernardino County has a law prohibiting the commercial activity of cannabis, which includes growing marijuana plants outdoors.”

The Sheriff’s Gangs and Narcotics Division will continue to enforce California cannabis laws and the San Bernardino County Cannabis Growing and Distribution Ordinance. Those found guilty of breaking state law and county ordinance are subject to fines, prosecution and seizure of property.

Landlords who grow marijuana or who know their tenants grow marijuana on their properties violate state law, and local ordinances can also be subject to civil or criminal penalties.
