Opening of a new CBD store in Clovis

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Customers at Clovis’ CBD Center can watch a lab technician make products for the store.

Cannabidiol, or CBD isolate, in this case, is mixed in to create a rub against pain and inflammation.

Owner SJ Van Horn says CBD is one of 100 cannabinoids that come from cannabis.

He says that none of the CBD products here contain THC, the ingredient in marijuana that gets people high.

“The first thing people want to know is if he will have an intoxication reaction and not, of course not,” he said. “The second thing they want to know is will it show up on a drug test and the answer is no.”

CBD products come in many forms – from oils you can take under your tongue, to gummies, to rubs for pain relief.

James Shipe recently tried a CBD product for the first time because he was looking to boost his energy.

“I said I think I’m going to buy this,” he said. “It’s amazing. So fast. 15 minutes. Boom. Energy.”

Van Horn says CBD products made here are also tested by outside labs to ensure consistency.

“Adults, of course, come for everything from anxiety, depression, to inflammation of pain,” he said. “A lot of people have trouble sleeping.”

Many products on the shelves are mixed with the CBD isolate in the lab, but Van Horn says the CBD is also extracted from locally grown plants.

“We are big supporters of Fresno, Clovis and Valley farmers ourselves, so we buy our hemp directly from Valley farmers,” he said.

The prices depend on the amount of CBD contained in the product.

They range from $9 for gummies to a few hundred dollars for higher doses of CBD.
