Mississippi’s First Medical Cannabis Patient Seminar Exceeds Expected Attendance

Hundreds of patients, carers, practitioners, dispensaries, growers and advocates packed the Hampton Inn conference center in Oxford, queuing in advance before the event even started.

“The demand has been overwhelming as more and more Mississippi patients seek educational resources about medical cannabis,” said Angie Calhoun, Founder and CEO of MCPA. “MCPA’s goal is to host more MCPA Facts & Snacks across Mississippi in the coming months. Each event helps educate patients on how to obtain a medical cannabis card, the ability to speak to MSDH-certified practitioners, meet with licensed dispensaries and growers, and more. Along the way, MCPA is here to help Mississippi patients with their questions about medical cannabis.

Calhoun also thanked the City of Oxford leaders and sponsors who helped coordinate the event.

Seminar education and awareness topics included how patients can get certified for medical cannabis, what are debilitating medical conditions, how to properly lock down and secure medical cannabis, microdosing and the latest guidelines from the Ministry of Health from Mississippi.

With the Mississippi Department of Health in attendance, patients, families and caregivers were able to ask questions about next steps for enrollment and any other critical program developments.
